A six-hour struggle for survival unfolded as an international student discovered herself trapped inside a relaxation room with no one to assist her. The student ingeniously used a pair of tweezers to carve a hole within the door, finally managing to kick the door open and free herself. This incident, a stark reminder of everyday hazards, sparked intense debate when reported.
The international scholar survival incident occurred in Melbourne, Australia, where a Chinese scholar, surnamed Wen, had just moved into an house. Being new to the place, she was unfamiliar with the services, and inadvertently locked herself in the toilet. With the one key in her possession and her cellphone battery depleted, she had no way to call for help.
Initially, Wen known as a friend for assist, but as she had the only key, her friend was helpless. With her phone battery exhausted and no alternative left, she had to devise a means out of her predicament. Surveying her environment for something that might assist her, she observed a pair of tweezers inside her attain and started to rapidly carve a hole in the wood bathroom door.
Wen revealed that she was lucky to have a picket rest room door as she might use the tweezers to carve a sizeable gap. She then poured water into the hole to soften the wooden, persevering with this course of for 2 hours. Eventually, she collapsed on the ground, feeling dizzy, hungry, and cold. She confessed that the considered the incident still terrifies her. She used her naked toes to kick the weakest part of the wooden door with all her might until it broke open.
“I was caught from 1pm to 6.30pm, and my foot and leg are injured.”

Following the harrowing experience, she is now more cautious about her surroundings and advises everybody to inform their family members and friends about their whereabouts, in case of emergencies.
Limited documenting the incident exhibits the floor lined with handwritten notes, written by Wen in each Chinese and English on toilet paper, hoping someone passing by may assist. However, she managed to escape on her personal ultimately. The wooden door was left with a large hole, large enough for a petite individual to crawl via.
