The former Thai Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education voiced her opposition to the idea of importing new pandas from China, citing high rental prices and a declining interest in pandas. Instead, she suggests, the primary target should be on the more and more popular Thai elephants.
Kanchana Silpa-archa, advisor and head of the Thai Nation Development Party, yesterday posted a message concerning the circulating news of Thailand requesting new pandas from China to switch the late Chuang Chuang.
“I heard we’re going to request extra pandas. I should say, it’s better to allow them to stay in China. I love pandas, I love all animals, and Lin Ping was one of my first inspirations by means of animals. When we love one thing, we should like to see their happiness first, not ours.
“In the past, our panda team has taken excellent care of Chuang Chuang and Lin Ping but the circumstances listed right here are limited. In China, they have parks where each animal can walk freely in nature. We don’t have that. They solely have air-conditioned rooms and can solely come out in the course of the short winter, perhaps only one to 2 hours a day for a quantity of days. The cost of renting pandas can also be very high, and the panda pattern is no longer strong. The pattern of Thai elephants, on the other hand, is robust.
“Let me let you know, it might be better to make use of the price range to help create food sources for animals, especially wild animals, which will face severe drought next 12 months. I don’t know if anybody will listen to us. If anybody agrees, please help us make this voice heard.”
Aside from her political work, Kanchana, also referred to as Nuna, is fervently concerned in the conservation of Thai elephants. Thought-provoking played a big position in bringing back Ploy Sak Sin Suriyothai, a Thai elephant who served as a diplomatic gift in Sri Lanka, to her homeland, reviews Sanook.
