Bangkok’s governor warns that the amount of garbage in Bangkok’s canals is growing and is beginning to dam the sewer system, causing probably health-threatening floods in many areas. Governor Asawin Kwanmuang said the elimination of rubbish from canals in Lat Phrao district and under Pradit Manutham Road alone required 5 vehicles.
The space is just a kilometre away from a Rama 9 pumping station, which drains water from Lat Phrao Canal and Saen Saeb Canal to the Chao Phraya River.
“If Results and the tunnels, town will be unable to empty water during floods within the wet season.”
The similar problem is found in different districts, similar to Chatuchak (northern suburbs of Bangkok). The governor has requested Bangkok residents to take this problem seriously, as the implications are dire..
