A puzzling incident occurred in Turkey, when a large fuel tank mysteriously fell from the sky, damaging three parked vehicles. Initial stories suspect that the tank originated from a military aircraft.
The alarming incident took place in Turkey on Monday, September 4, when a fuel tank seemingly broke away from an plane in flight and landed in a parking space in the capital metropolis of Ankara, severely damaging three vehicles. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries have been reported. Initially, the detached gas tank is believed to have come from an F-4 navy plane.
The local media reported that the plane in question was on a flight from Istanbul Atatürk International Airport to Eskişehir Air Base, which is the headquarters of the 1st Air Force Command. Viral video clips from social media showed three cars within the parking lot badly damaged by a fallen gasoline tank, reported Aerotime Hub.
The Turkish Ministry of Defence confirmed in a press release that the fuel tank portion of an F-4 navy aircraft belonging to the Air Force Command had landed in an open parking space of Turkish Petroleum Company. An investigation is currently underway to determine how the gas tank was detached whereas flying over Ankara. The Ministry additionally confirmed that there were no casualties or accidents from the incident, while an in depth technical investigation on the matter is ongoing.
Two years in the past, a C130 Hercules, a Philippines army aircraft crashed with ninety two individuals on board. Seventeen individuals were confirmed dead whereas forty individuals survived and had been taken to a nearby military hospital.
The airplane crashed within the southern Philippine province of Sulu, 950 kilometres miles south of the capital, Manila.
