A bomb exploded in Mayo district of Pattani province in Southern Thailand this morning. Four paramilitary rangers have been injured from the bomb on their approach to repair a broken water pump near their base. All the rangers were rushed to a hospital, and a bomb squad cleared the world.
This news comes just 5 days after an assault injured 4 patrolling rangers and two civilians in entrance of a college in Bannang Sata district of Yala province. Following the Yala assault, PM Prayut ordered authorities to tighten safety in each area, especially round weak spots similar to transport and railway roads within the area. The attack came after a government negotiator introduced last month that the Thai government would have peace talks with Southern rebels soon.
The Thai government and Southern separatists joined a peace dialogue panel in Phuket in January, however far more progress needs to be made between the events. Thai authorities don’t agree to give the Patani Malay folks autonomy, or with the separatists’ want to have an Islamic school system taught within the Malay language..
